The movie
Show notes
In this episode, the first part of our Action Solstice where we spent the entire month talking about 80s buddy cop movies is coming to an end. And in that spirit we are ending the series with literally the last action movie of the 80s, released on Christmas 1989, Tango & Cash . Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about the many trials and tribulations the production of this movie faced, how it was an illustration of changing tides that saw off the era of muscle-bound action heroes and how it remains for many viewers a formative nostalgic experience. We also talk about the chemistry between Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell, the 80s excess taken to extremes, prison breaks in the rain, hyperventilating Jack Palance and much more!
