The movie
Show notes
An aunt-and-nephew directing team. One unforgettable horror debut. Twin brothers begin to suspect the bandaged woman recovering from surgery in their isolated countryside home isn't really their mother in "Goodnight Mommy," continuing The Next Reel's Horror Debuts series. Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala direct their narrative feature debut, with Susanne Wuest, Elias Schwarz, and Lukas Schwarz starring. Pete and Andy agree on the film's stunning craft but split hard on whether the story earns its darkest turns, digging into a real debate over one especially manipulative plot device. It's a gorgeous, difficult watch that rewards conversation as much as the film itself. We have a great time talking about it, so check it out then tune in—The Next Reel on TruStory FM, when the movie ends, our conversation begins!
