This Christmas Day, The Filmlosophers are taking a trip back to a simpler time… a time of dial-up internet, frosted tips, and widespread panic about the impending digital apocalypse. They’re unwrapping 2024’s Y2K, a film that explores the unique anxieties and cultural landscape of the late 90s/early 2000s. As you unwrap your presents, join them as they unwrap the layers of this nostalgic throwback, contrasting the warm, fuzzy feelings of the holidays with the cold, hard fear of technological collapse. Was it really that bad? Or are we just looking back with rose-tinted, pixelated glasses? (Contains spoilers for Y2K.)
