Show notes
Amid the buzz surrounding the theatrical release of Wicked, The Film Buff takes a moment to remind everyone of the overlooked brilliance of 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful. This visually stunning film, directed by Sam Raimi, scored by Danny Elfman, and backed by the magic of Walt Disney Pictures, seems to have faded from memory—possibly due to the controversy surrounding its star, James Franco. It's a wonder this ambitious and beautifully crafted movie isn't more fondly remembered.
