A Wild South Korean Sci-Fi Thriller! | Hope (2026) – Movie Review. Josh and Nick are back with a review of Hope (2026), the South Korean sci-fi action thriller from director Na Hong-jin. Set in a remote village near the DMZ, Hope follows police chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae as they try to protect the village while a group of local hunters heads into the mountains to track down an unknown creature. What starts as a mysterious local threat quickly escalates into a much larger conflict. In this review, Josh and Nick break down the movie's story, action, performances, visual effects, suspense, and Na Hong-jin's unique approach to science fiction. With a cast that includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton, there's plenty to discuss. Is Hope an ambitious South Korean sci-fi thriller worth checking out, or does its nearly 2½-hour runtime hold it back?
