Show notes

Send us Fan Mail Fall is here... does that mean clowns are here as well!? Today were talking about: A clown walks into a bar. He doesn't make anyone laugh. He just really needs a drink. Shakes the Clown (1992) takes the wholesome world of birthday parties, children's entertainment, and brightly colored makeup—and asks, “What if everyone involved absolutely hated their lives?” Shakes is a professional clown. He's also an alcoholic. He's also having a really, really bad week. Behind every red nose is a broken dream. Behind every balloon animal is crippling despair. And behind every children's party is a grown adult wondering how their life ended up here. It's funny. It's filthy. It's deeply uncomfortable. Basically, it's a clown movie where the clown isn't the scariest thing in the room. 🤡 Hit play on WHO WATCHES THIS PODCAST, follow, rate, and subscribe—and join us as we find out if Shakes the Clown is a forgotten cult classic or just what happens when a birthday party gets a little too honest.
