In which the Mister joins me in reviewing TROY (2004), an epic historical drama from director Wolfgang Petersen, from a script by David Benioff and based on the poem "The Iliad" by Homer. The forbidden love affair between Prince Paris of Troy (Orlando Bloom) and Queen Helen of Sparta (Diane Kruger) sparks an international war when they flee to the fortified Trojan city together. Seeking retribution for the insult to his family, King Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson) convinces his ruthless brother, King Agamemnon (Brian Cox), to unite the Greek armies and launch a massive invasion to conquer Troy and expand his empire. As the massive conflict unfolds outside the legendary walls, the arrogant Greek warrior Achilles (Brad Pitt) and the noble Trojan prince Hector (Eric Bana) clash in a legendary rivalry that will ultimately decide the fate of the entire civilization. The film clocks in at 2 h 43 m, is rated R, is currently streaming on Peacock but also to buy/rent on Prime Video.
